Tenerife Forests and Woodlands

Many visitors to Tenerife, particularly for their first time, do not get to appreciate the extensive woodlands of Canarian Pine which cover vast areas of the Island. The Canarian people are understandably very proud of their pine forests, the Forestal and the Forest Crown, which surround the Mount Teide Natural Park.
If you take a drive up to Mount Teide you will be surprised how the natural vegetation changes from Cactus and scrub to lush pine forests and then to barren volcanic landscapes as the oxygen level and temperature diminishes. Tenerife flora and fauna is displayed as a rich tapestry of biological life as you tour the islands at different altitudes. Tenerife Geography has unique characteristics which render such a diverse range of wildlife, but the Tenerife forests are perhaps the most surprising discovery for visitors.
