This new service is scheduled to commence from May 2009, Air Europa will be using Reina Sofia airport in the south of the Island. Final details are yet to be released but it is expected that a weekly flight carrying 300 passengers will be inaugurated.
Currently passengers flying to the United States have had to change aeroplanes in Madrid or other European hub airports. The new flight will be only about eight and a half hours duration which will encourage more visitors to the Island.
This must surely be a welcome boost for Tenerife Tourism; the new American tourists should be attracted by wealth of Tenerife culture and their passion for theme parks. The Island has so many parallels with the sunshine state of Florida, including some formidable theme parks such as the Siam Park and the Loro Parque. More about Tenerife.
