Tenerife Rural Tourism

The demand for alternative tourism has led to new initiatives by local government; specialised businesses and private enterprises have been encouraged to renovate and restore old houses for letting as private accommodation or as small hotels. These lodges are situated so as to allow access to both the countryside and the beach within a single day.
For those who prefer a more direct contact with nature, rural tourism accommodation is another great way of discovering the island, especially customs, traditions, architecture and craftmanship. There is also a programme of various festivals through the summer months.
Through a network of country cottages, visitors can discover the more genuine and authentic character of Tenerife in the foothills, staying in carefully restored traditional cottages and taking part in complimentary activities like walking or cross country horse riding.
